Robert practices before the labour tribunals in both the private and public sectors, in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He has also been Vice-Chair of the Employment Standards Tribunal and the Public Service Labour Relations Board, all in New Brunswick.

He is well versed in the regulations, standards of practice and ethical obligations of health and legal professionals, having represented individuals and regulatory bodies before complaints and discipline committees and the Courts. He gives advice on matters such as confidentiality and ownership of files, sexual abuse, conflicts of interest and dual relationships, termination of treatment, fee arrangements and other matters of professional conduct.

Actively involved in his profession, he chaired the Civil Litigation Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association, New Brunswick Branch for five years. He sat on the Examination Committee, the Bar Admission Committee, the Seizure of Practice Committee of his Law Society, and was the Atlantic Provinces representative to Federation of Law Societies' Joint Education Committee on Continuing Legal Education.

He chaired the Compensation Fund Committee of the Law Society of New Brunswick for ten years and was a member of the Law Society’s Compensation Fund Task Force. He was a member of the task force responsible for the drafting of the Law Society Act, 1996.

He lectures at the Bar Admission course. He has been course leader in legal drafting, professional conduct and administrative law. He lectured at the Université de Moncton Law School and Business School and to the New Brunswick Real Estate Association FRI, MVA and AACI law courses.


He frequently gives seminars to charitable and for-profit Boards of Directors on a variety of governance issues.
